Hi, Woodland Creature! Welcome to Ilmreynir - your best place for R&R (Rewild and Relax). The courses below can be taken 'as is' (as per their description), and you can start at any one course you like. Also, if you have taken any one of the courses, you can come back and repeat the same course but with the next level of skills. For example, you can be Comfortably Wild at level 1 (with the basic skills) or level 3 (advanced crafting). Or you might want to upgrade your Wildfulness experience from an hour to a whole night - it is all possible and open to discussion. Most of all, what's expected is that you'll have a good time. Come and be Wild!
Newbie Alert:
At the moment I'm a newbie. That means I'll be working with customers one-on-one and small groups (max 3 people).
Most people who are urban dwellers like to go into the woods, but also view them with a pinch of suspicion. Things like the weather, and wild creatures (big and small) play a role in that concern, and causes people to either stay home, or carry a truck full of stuff into the forest to ensure a nice, comfortable experience.What if I told you that you don´t need to bring all that stuff, to be "as snug as a bug in a rug" in the woods? You can come equipped with next to nothing, and use smarts and wonderful bushcraft skills to create fast and enduring comfort. Comfortably Wild will teach you how to use techniques and materials safely, so that you can craft the ease you need.

You will also learn how to work sustainably and how to wisely choose your materials in order to 'Leave no Trace'. And while that goes on, we will talk with each other about mindset and how to transform the mindset of discomfort. We'll examine how to be 'Comfortably Wild' so that we can start to venture outdoors anytime we want to, despite our hesitations.

Things you will learn in this course
Safe use of knife and bushcraft saw
Makeshift rain shelter in five minutes
Bushcraft chair [easy to advanced]
Transform your stay-at-home mindset
Feel comfortable with next to nothing

Anyone can camp - and yet not all camps are created equally. The ultra-wealthy camp on Mars. Van-lifers drive their Tiny Homes into the mountains or set it by the shores of Loch Lomond. And the long distance hiking crowd carry their tiny campsite, either in big bulky packs or dainty ultralight packs (me). And the apocalypse inclined know how to make a camp out of tires and tie-wraps.In most cases the camping location - whether it be on wheels or not - fits the executive (the camper). You pay or arrange for certain commodities and needs. In Camp Yourself Wild, we do the opposite:
we adapt ourselves and our behavior to the wild setting. In order to do that, we look at the many ways in which we could blend in - from our camping setup to our physical movements.

We'll also check out our camping etiquette and mindset, and re-evaluate some of our thoughts about camping behavior and equipment. You'll also learn about rope techniques that allow for easy rigging, and I will show you several camping modes. Finally we will look at the energy with which we camp, and allow our natural environment to change it. For those wanting a deeper immersion it is possible to add a night to the experience.

Things you will learn in this course
Quick rigging methods and knots
Adapting your shelter to its surroundings
Conscious movement and situational awareness
Nature surfing and energetic camouflage
Dealing with insects and other wood critters

For those who have experienced my other courses and feel like they could use more of it, Primal Trek combines the contents learned in each workshop and applies them in a week-long trek. We'll be using the tools we have on us, as well as some basic equipment (tarp, mosquito netting and your normal sleeping gear). We'll discover how to stay comfortable using our skills from 'Comfortably Wild' and use our skills from the Wild Camping course to create a wonderful nocturnal experience. This will be a great test for our skills.

It was the end of 2019 and I had just completed the Camino (a long pilgrimage route). After such a long time of following the Yellow Arrows, I felt as if there was one last mark I ought to follow. I felt very restless, as if I was about to hit on something big. Nothing happened for a while, until I was on holiday in Ireland and randomly stumbled upon a playlist by Rewild University.As I watched that playlist, I felt a roaring inside of me, something that said: "This is what I was meant to do!!". I had hit the mark that I'd been looking for - and so I set out to develop myself. I would try to write up a plan (I rewrote it many, many times), and when I was tired of planning I would venture into the forest and teach myself.[...]

[symbology of Ilmreynir and explanation about site logo]
Ilmreynir is Icelandic for Rowan, which is my name. It is also the name of the Mountain Ash, which has a rich history both culturally and in magical traditions. In addition to its capacity to grow on sheer rock, the tree is believed to have magical qualities and to function as a kind of portal between life and death. As such, Ilmreynir symbolizes the sacrifice of old patterns and the re-birth into bright energy.

Whooohooo, the site is finally up...!! From the moment that this idea sprouted up in my mind, to the realization of Ilmreynir - with an online presence - it has been a long journey. Often I have felt tired, but the idea never failed to inspire me and keep me going, as something far beautiful and greater than I could come up with by myself. To be able to share it with the world now is amazing.

Did you know that I have two other projects? Oerfrequenties is a project that I share with Dennis, a shamanic healer who organizes sound sessions. With it, you can do a sound journey in the wild.Oermonnik aims to give people the possibility of practicing primal movement, making use of a wild or natural setting. Here you can come and work on your strength in a playful way, with the squirrels and your fellow tribal people.
Are you a chill, outdoorsy forest gnome? Do you physically feel stronger and more energetic when you teach others a way to thrive in the forest? If you resonate highly with green frequencies, and you feel a very intense connection to the Forest, don't wait any longer - get yourself over to the contact form and let's talk possibilities and opportunities.
The most wonderful gnomes are:
Intuitive (and also aware of their boundaries),
Tuned-in to their Inner Nature,
Hungry for knowledge about the forest and its occupants,
A true chameleon who can blend in with the environment;
Love freedom and have a big value on individual agency.
This is more or less what your job will look like;
Help Rowan teach the workshops and bring valuable input,
Be your chillaxed self and help people feel at ease with your energy
Tune in to the situation and see what can be improved or changed
Help Rowan organize and execute new ideas
